Scientific work
To propagate new and advanced methods it is necessary to teach them to postgraduate students, researchers as well as to non-demographers. I taught postgraduate students at the Paris Institute of Demography, on migration analysis for more than thirty years and more recently I taught them the event history analysis. I also taught the even history analysis at Paris I University and at the Natural History Museum. I taught and trained PhD students from different Universities in the new methods in demographic research and participated in numerous boards of examiners. Some of this work related to the selective admission of new researchers to Ined: Eva Lelièvre, Brigitte Baccaïni, France Guerin- Pace, Anne Solaz and Valérie Golaz, and I participated in the organization of adult training programs for statisticians of the National Institute of Statistics and Information about the Economy. There also I taught econometrics of duration data. I participated to different Summer Courses at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Studies, where European researchers came to be trained to new methods of research. At Ined, Daniel Delaunay, Arnaud Bringé and I organised a training seminar on multilevel analysis in which numerous researchers from the main social sciences institutions in France and even in Europe participated.
